HSBC Bank, 1-800-395-2274 and harassment

I ranted in a previous blog post about how bad the calls from collectors were after getting a new phone from AT&T. I'm doing this post so that it goes on record that HSBC Bank plays dirty. The number 1-800-395-2274 suddenly began calling several times a day. They didn't respond when we answered, though you could tell someone was there at first. It just went into some beeping mode after a few moments. I called the number and you get a rude message to enter your account number. They don't even identify the company name at this point. I just waited and someone answered wanting our account number, this time identifying it as HSBC. I already knew who owned the number because a simple internet search shows articles like this one:

1-800-395-2274, or how HSBC earns a black eye in America

I've never had an account with HSBC, but now you can be sure I'll never willingly open one... What kind of depraved mind thinks this is good business practice?

  1. I am getting the same problem. I keep getting calls from HSBC with the same number, 1-800-395-2274, I personally think what they are doing is absolutely wrong. How could HSBC harass customers who did business with HSBC. I no longer hold my HSBC account because I moved from New York to Wisconsin. I don't like the way they treat their customers. I had a difficult time with their representatives. I find it pathetic that they harass their former customers including me. You know as a deaf person, they call to my mobile phone. I find it disrespectful everytime when they call me. They should have already know that I am deaf and I can't HEAR what they are saying at all. THERE should be another way for them to call me in a more respectful way. I despite when some businesses like HSBC don't care but make money. I would love to see them go bankrupt or to court for their bad business ethics and morals. They should use their common sense to serve their customers the RIGHT way. I am going to write a letter to my Senate Representative telling him how wrong this is. This is causing bigger problem in this country and possibly around the world. I'd like to show HSBC what is so wrong to harass/trick their customers.

  2. Sorry to hear you're having the same problems. With the Internet now at least we know we're not alone and our complaints. From what I've read they probably would be bankrupt if it weren't for bailouts. Looks like we funned a few billion to them through the AIG bailout. I think the British taxpayer got to foot their bills more directly. Should have let them all go under...

  9. When I finally got the person I told them to stop and I didn't know the name of the person they were trying to contact. Another alternative (if you're from the U.S.) is to send them a drop dead letter if you know it's them and you don't owe them anything. We got a form from Clark Howard's website for others. It's a hassle, but they have to comply by law.

  10. Getting calls several times per day. Checked my HSBC account online and my early payment was mis posted and now I have an overdue payment and late fee. Have emailed company to get this corrected, as talking to them by phone is like pulling teeth. Have had other issues with this CC co. in the past due to hacking/purchases not made by me.
